A Man left a waitress $50,000 and a car...

BROWNSVILLE, Texas - For nearly seven years Melina Salazar did her best to put on a smile and tend to the every need of her most loyal and cantankerous customer.

She made sure his food was as hot as he wanted, even if it meant he burned his mouth. And she smiled through his demands and curses. The 89-year-old Walter "Buck" Swords obviously appreciated it, leaving the waitress $50,000 and a 2000 Buick when he died.

"I still can't believe it," the Luby's cafeteria employee told Harlingen television station KGBT-TV in an interview during which she described Swords as "kind of mean."

Swords, a World War II veteran, died in July. But Salazar learned just a few days before Christmas that he had left her the money and car...

The waitress got rewarded for all the good deed she did...Mr. Swords was obviously her Santa Claus...I really believe in Good Karma...What ever you do will always come back to you...

Christmas Card arrived 93 years late...

Have anyone of you heard about Ethel Martin's of Oberlin,Kansas and what happened to her mail???Well,I was reading some online news today and saw Ethel Martin's mail story and I wanna share it with you all...In Kansas Post Office,a postcard featuring a color drawing of Santa Claus and a young girl was mailed in 1914,but its journey was slower than Christmas. It just arrived in northwest Kansas...The Christmas card was dated Dec. 23, 1914, and mailed to Ethel Martin of Oberlin, apparently from her cousins in Alma, Nebraska...It's a mystery where it spent most of the last century, Oberlin Postmaster Steve Schultz said... "It's surprising that it never got thrown away," he said. "How someone found it, I don't know."Ethel Martin is deceased, but Schultz said the post office wanted to get the card to a relative...That's how the 93-year-old relic ended up with Bernice Martin, Ethel's sister-in-law. She said she believed the card had been found somewhere in Illinois..."That's all we know," she said. "But it is kind of curious. We'd like to know how it got down there."The card was placed inside another envelope with modern postage for the trip to Oberlin — the one-cent postage of the early 20th century wouldn't have covered it, Martin said..."We don't know much about it," she said. "But wherever they kept it, it was in perfect shape."

It is sucks to know that the greeting card that was sent to Ethel Martin, ninety three years ago was not received by her on time...but it is so amazing to know that after all those years the card was still in good shape, although it did not come on time,it still came on its destination, like what they said it is better late than never...but,the sad thing is that Ethel Martin was not able to read and see what her cousins sent her...I am sure most of you right now are glad to get mails just a little bit late unlike what happened to Ethel's which arrived ninety three years late...

Merry Christmas to All!!!

Christmas Days is here again and let us all remember what this day really means...Christmas Day is the day when our Saviour Jesus Christ was born...We should celebrate it like we always do when our birthday comes...but it should not only be like that...We have to remember that Christmas is tenderness for the past, courage for the present, hope for the future...Christmas is a day of meaning and traditions,a special day spent in the warm circle of family and friends...It is the best time to make a reflection of our values,desires,affections,traditions...I do not know what you all want for Christmas but for me the best of all gifts is seeing the presence of my happy family all wrapped up in each other, knowing that my family is in good health and safe...It is my first time to celebrate Christmas Day away from my family in the Philippines,I am a little bit sad because I am so used to celebrating it with all the people I love around me but I am also glad that I have my husband and my son to celebrate it with right now...Let us always remember that celebrating Christmas day should always be in our hearts always,Peace on earth should always stay and live like Christmas Day every day... Christmas is not just a day,it is an event to be observed and must not be forgotten...It is a spirit which should be present every part of our lives every day...Let us not forget to thank Him for all the gifts and Blessing that we have received this year...Well, Merry Merry Christmas to everybody!!!May God Bless Us Always!!!

Enjoy the Holidays,Drive Safe...

It is the most popular month for serving alcohol at parties, family gatherings, and social events...That makes December the most dangerous time of the year for alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities...Most people enjoy holiday drinks, but driving home after a party can be a disaster...You can have you fun and stay safe if you arrange to have a designated driver, someone who will not be drinking and who can safely drive you home after the party...Your responsibility, however, does not end there...When you see that a person who does not have a designated driver is intoxicated, arrange a ride or drive him home yourself...Remember,Friends do not let Friends drive DRUNK!!!

Charice Pempengco

The Girl in the picture is Charice Pempengco...I am sure many of you are wondering who Charice Pempengco is...Well,she made all the Filipino so proud with her fantastic singing voice...When I was watching her at Ellen's show,I could not help my tears falling while watching her and listening to her great singing,I was really having chills from the start until the end of her performance...They said when a singer give you chills,she/he surely is a very good singer...Charice got a sweet voice when she talks but it get different when she sings, she really have a very powerful voice...I searched online about Charice and I wanna Share to all of you what I have found...and to Charice, thank you for giving our country something new to be proud of...Goodluck to you and do not forget to ask for His Guidance and Blessings always!!!

Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco simply known by her screen name Charice Pempengco (born May 10, 1993) is a Filipina singer who was the third place on the first season of Little Big Star and became popularly known because of YouTube. Charice joined Little Big Star in 2005 when she was only 12 years old. She was eliminated right away from the singing contest but was chosen to become a part of the wildcard round where she strived her way up to become a finalist. She was the consistent top scorer in the final rounds but ended up only as the 3rd place winner.

Charice started to become known in the cyberworld when FalseVoice of YouTube posted her performance of Whitney Houston's hit I Will Always Love You which she performed in Little Big Star. Many YouTubers thought her performance was fake and that she was only lipsynching because of her unbelievable vocals. Another video that became a hit was a face-off video of her and equally talented America's Got Talent's winner Bianca Ryan. These videos paved way and became instrumental for her to be recognized by Ten Songs Productions, a record company based in Sweden. Charice then travelled all the way to Stockholm in June 2007 and recorded seven songs, among which were 3 cover songs, Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You, Kate Bush's original Running Up That Hill, and Stay of Shakespears Sisters, plus four originals namely Amazing, All The Money In The World, It Can Only Get Better, and Born To Love You Forever. These songs will be soon released digitally.

A few months later, FalseVoice channel then released a video of her singing the Dreamgirls' anthem And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going which earned her an invitation from one of the biggest television networks in Korea, SBS in October, to join a talent show called Star King where she performed the same song. The Korean audience was wowed by her jaw-dropping performance that made a lot of buzz throughout their country. And this made a lot of viewers post her Star King performance on YouTube which made her become more popular that even American TV network E!'s The Daily Ten featured her Star King performance first with "A Star Is Born" headline on November 14, 2007 episode, then placed her on the Hollywood Royalty segment as "A Queen Is Born" on November 16th episode. The same performance video was also featured in the Ellen DeGeneres show on November 28, 2007 where Ellen showed web videos of different people she wanted to guest on her show. After seeing Charice's video, Ellen did a standing ovation and even imitated her singing gestures. It has been confirmed that Charice will soon be flying to LA to guest on the said show.

On December 19, 2007, Charice appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show and sang 2 songs, "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" and "I Will Always Love You".

Stress Free Holiday Season

The most important contributors to a happy holiday season are the expectations you create in your own mind about the holidays...You cannot make them perfect - people get sick, recipes do not always turn out as expected and family members do not always get along...You will be healthier and happier if you keep your expectations reasonable...You do not have to have the perfect party, perfectly behaved children,or the most beautifully decorated home...Give yourself a break and you will be happy you did...You are in charge of the number of commitments you make...You do not have to hold a holiday party at your home...You do not have to attend every event just because you received an invitation...You have one like with a limited amount of time...Spend the time of your life with people you love...Make sure you do not spend the holidays trying to change your siblings or revisiting grievances from year past...Share memories and laughter with people who are important to you...Take time for personal reflection...Establish traditions at home and at work...Traditions change as the people in you life die, make sure you establish new traditions with the family member who remain...Christmas is for family and friends...It is also time to rejoice and celebrate for our Saviour's birth...We have to thank Him for everything that we have in our lives and for saving us from our sins...and last but definitely not the least taking care of your physical and mental health is the single most important aspect of creating holiday health and happiness...Eat a healthy food and exercise regularly...Merry Christmas to all!!!!

Holiday Fire Safety

There is a big amount of fire happening during the month of December due to the Christmas lights or any Christmas decorations that has electricity we have in our house...In order for us to prevent fire, let us always turn off our lights on Christmas trees,or on paper decorations before going to bed...If there is a short circuit,a fire may start, always check the electric wires...Keep matches, lighters and candles out of the reach of children...Always place candles where they cannot be knocked down or blown over and never place it where ever near a curtain or any cloth because it can easily start a fire when it touches the fire...Check the labels on light sets for inside or outside use, never use outside lights inside and let us make our house Christmas decoration simple but meaningful, too much lights might start fire or cause short circuits...We do not want to put ourselves or our family member in danger, right? So,please let us all celebrate the holidays with care...Have a safe holiday everybody!!! :-)

Tips for Smart Holiday Shopping...

The holiday to-do lists can get a little overwhelming this time of year... Sometimes we do not know what to give the people we want to give gifts too, and I suggest that we should give them things that are near their interest or if you really do not know them that much or does not know what can make them happy or what they want, just give them gift cards so they can just buy what they want on their own..I know most of us do the last minute shopping and sometimes we forget to get or buy some things because we are in a rush...From finding out ahead of time when an item goes on sale to knowing the best times to avoid crowds and always remember that is always important to give gifts from heart no matter how small it is and it is always the thought that comes...,smart shoppers can follow little tricks of the trade to reduce unnecessary frustration...

  • Shop after 6:00 p.m. the evening before a sale is advertised to begin. Many retailers program the registers the night before, so the sale may already come up in the register even if they have not signed the selling floor yet. Ask the associate in advance for any possible upcoming sales, especially on big ticket items.
  • Prepare a list to use while you are shopping. Make sure to include alternative selections in case you are unable to find some of the items on your list.
  • Avoid crowds by shopping during stores’ early and late extended hours.
  • If you are looking for specific advertised items, take the complete ad with you so that you don’t end up in the wrong store looking for a specific price.
  • Staple a gift receipt to the merchandise tag in case it needs to be returned or exchanged. Keep your original receipts with any warranty paperwork for the life of the warranty.
  • Remember when gift shopping you are buying for someone else’s wants and needs, not your own. But don’t be surprised if you find some new necessities for yourself in the process!
  • Shop safely! Watch your personal belongings at all times including handbags and purchases. The stores are not responsible for any lost items so be careful, especially at the register when you can get easily distracted by the transaction itself.
  • Save yourself some wear-n-tear, let the charity group at the mall wrap your gifts for you. This will save you a lot of time and free you up to do other things on your holiday to-do lists.
  • When shopping online, have your credit cards and address book handy. Many websites have timed windows to complete a transaction, so you need to have any shipping information at your fingertips.
  • Wear comfortable shoes - you are going to be walking on a lot of marble and tile.

No OverPowering...

What are needed for a relationship to last?I believe that in order for a relationship to last,it should start in a friendship, like many said,Friendship is the best foundation for a great relationship...Because on that stage, the guy and the girl would really show the real them and would really get to know each other...Trust,Loyalty,Honesty,Love,Maturity are some ingredients of a successful relationship... Many relationships fail because one party tries to overpower another,or demands too much...People in love tend to think that love will conquer all and their spouses will change the bad habits after marriage...Actually,this is not the case...There is a Chinese saying which carries the meaning that "It is easier to reshape a mountain or a river than a person ' s character." It is not easy to change...Thus,having high expectation on changing the spouse character will cause disappointment and unpleasantness..It would be less painful to change ourselves and lower our expectations...Accepting and believing each other for who and what they are is so important too,for with out it a relationship will not last also...

Shopping for candles...

A night before I left Chicago,my cousin and I went to the mall...We were just strolling around, looking and checking some stuff when I saw this stall selling candles...I told my cousin that I wanna check it out and she said sure...When we were near the candle store,I saw different kinds of candles, each has it's own smell, size, colors and shapes...I was really amazed...
I bought two candles with different colors, smells but both have the same design, there are seashells on it,I like it because it is like a little ocean in a small crystal jar...I really love going to the beach so when I saw those candles I fell in love with it because it reminds me of the beach...When I was in the Philippines,I was collecting some candles but I had to leave it there when I left for the States...I love it because it is so relaxing when you smell its scents..Candles has so many functions...scented candles help eliminates bad odor of the house cause of cooking etc.,it is also nice for decoration,it also is so romantic having dinner with candles all around, taking a bath with candles is so relaxing, too! When I got home I showed the candles I bought to my husband and he said they are really cute and smells so good...I am so happy he likes it,too!

CREATING A PERFECT RELATIONSHIP?

A person visited the government matchmaker for marriage,SDU,and requested "I am looking for a spouse. Please help me to find a suitable one."The SDU officer said, "Your requirements, please." "Oh, good looking, polite, humorous ,sporty, knowledgeable, good in singing and dancing.Willing to accompany me the whole day at home during my leisure hour, f I don ' t go out.Telling me interesting stories when I need companion for conversation and be silent when I want to rest." The officer listened carefully and replied, "I understand you need television."

There is a saying that a perfect match can only be found between a blind wife and a deaf husband ,because the blind wife cannot see the faults of the husband and the deaf husband cannot hear the nagging of the wife. Many couples are blind and deaf at the courting stage and dream of perpetual perfect relationship. Unfortunately, when the excitement of love wears off, they wake up and discover that marriage is not a bed of roses. The nightmare begins...

For me,there is no such thing like a perfect relationship,in order for a relationship to work well,TRUST,LOVE,PATIENCE,COMMUNICATION and UNDERSTANDING should be on it...Compromise to each other and of course the last but not the least putting God in the center of the relationship.

Tips for a healthy Family...

What is family?Check any dictionary and you’ll define family as a group of persons sharing common ancestry. But a family is so much more than a simple biological relation to another person. A family can also be two or more people who share goals and values and have long-term commitments to one another. At its core,a family is a social group that must be nurtured and maintained in order to grow and thrive. As with all social groups, communication and interaction in the form of a communal gathering are integral to survival. The concept of the family gathering has been in existence for millennia. It’s not a modern creation but rooted in the traditions and histories of our own particular cultures and ancestry.A family gathering, whether it’s a daily shared meal,a special gathering over the holidays or Sunday visits with grandparents, has an impact on the development of our family units and us as individuals within the unit.Family gatherings are the cornerstone of successful and happy families and we all need to work to include communal activities as part of our daily family routine. The gathering does not have to be a formal affair that includes every cousin,Aunt or Uncle you have.A simple meal together with your immediate family unit can provide a vehicle for communication that otherwise may not get to be expressed.relationships and increasing their self-confidence.Here are three simple tips you can use today to increase Family Happiness:
1. Assess – Take a look at your family know each ones strengths/weakness
2. Connect – Be aware of how connected your family is to each other
3. Construct – A forum for your family to share feelings and issues on a regular basis

I hope what I shared today will help you have a healthy family relationship...Thanks for dropping by...ciao!!!

It is a snowy day!!!

This picture was taken outside my Aunt's house today...I have always wanted to see a real snow, touch it,feel it or even taste it,I thought I could never experience all of that in real life since it do not snow in the Philippines but, I finally did, thanks to God!I was really happy and excited when it started snowing,I was like a little kid playing outside even though it was so cold,my son was enjoying it the first few minutes but after a while he started crying because the snow went inside his shoes hehehe :-)so,my cousin took him inside while I stayed outside and take pictures...Playing in the snow was really fun,it was really cold but I did not really care it was my first time to play in the snow and experience it,so I had to enjoy it...The snow looks so good on some trees so I took some pictures of them...The trees are like brown and the snow is so white,so it really looks nice...The house roofs, driveways and roads are filled with snows...Drivers really have to drive slow because the roads are wet and slippery...it is really dangerous if you do not drive carefully...Well,until here for now I have to get ready for today's agenda..let us just all enjoy the snow...happy snowy day!!!Be carefull everyone!!!

Blogging...

Right now blogging is really famous...I just started doing it a month ago...I have heard of it so many times before but I never knew what it really meant or had no interest on doing it...I never knew blogging is a fun thing to do...It makes your time fly so fast especially if you do not do anything and just stay home...Geesh,I got really addicted to it the minute I started doing it...Blogging is a good way to communicate to other people, find friends or just exchanging knowledge,it is really cool!!!I already started blogging but until now I really still don't have a full knowledge of what it means,so I searched it online and here's what I have learned...A blog (a portmanteau of web log) is a website where entries are written in chronological order and commonly displayed in reverse chronological order."Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.
Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject;others function as more personal online diaries.A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketchblog, videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), audio (podcasting) and are part of a wider network of social media. Micro-blogging is another type of blogging which consists of blogs with very short posts...I am hoping you would learn something from what I have shared here...Thanks for visiting and hope to see you all again later...
