"A Nation of Servants”

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has barred the Hong Kong-based magazine columnist who branded the Philippines as “a nation of servants” from visiting the country, reports said today.

BI chief Marcelino Libanan issued today Immigration Order 09-219, which prohibits columnist Chip Tsao from entering the country after delivering a "racist slur" against Filipinos.

It was earlier reported that Tsao called the Philippines “a nation of servants” in his column titled “The War at Home.” He also reportedly told his Filipina servant that he will fire her in the event the Philippines takes over the highly disputed Spratly islands.

Asia City Publishing, publisher of HK Magazine, apologized yesterday for Tsao’s “politically incorrect” commentary and admitted that Filipinos have been “unfairly” treated in Hong Kong despite their contributions to society.

Libanan, however, stressed that Tsao himself should personally announce a public apology, reports added.
