New Year Goodluck Tradition

I got this meme from Jaz
Thanks Jaz!!!

We always put 12 different fruits that is round or circle on the table and rice (not cooked)...Family should be together before 12 midnight comes...Shake some coins when it is already 12 midnight...I used to believe that when it is already 12 midnight, you have to have jump so you will get taller, but I guess that is not true because I have been doing that and I am still a shorty hehehe :-) My Grandma used to say that you should never cry before it turns 12 midnight because you will be crying the whole year...by Nicotine

All member of the family must be together at the strike of midnight (Dec 31) New Years Eve, so that they will always be together for the whole year through! And wearing polka dots, for business good luck! by

A pleasurable chinese inspired tradition.... that I doggedly believe, a fruit tray containing of 13 different kinds of round fruits, on the table by New Year's Eve. It implies wealthiness for the whole year.... he!he!he! maniwala daw ba!?! by PrettyLifeOnline

Our tradition back home to have 12 different kinds of fruits put in white bowl, my mom wear dotted dress with pocket so she can put her 24 coins to shake when the clock struck at 12 then family gather together around the table with traditional foods and we pray. [i really missed this tradition with my family back home]. Other good luck tradition hung a grapes by the door. by Carlota

My beloved mother told us don’t open the money pouches until a few days have passed. Traditional New Year foods are also thought to bring luck, she said 13 different kinds of fruits is good luck, and family together around tables of traditional foods. by lolli

My mom used to collect some coins and when the new year comes she put the coins in a bowl and shake it to create sounds. She said its good luck for money throughout the year. And also wearing dotted dresses on new year don’t know why. by CC and chalyza and keep

I don’t have any traditionals during New Year. by Juliana

My old folks always told us to avoid spending money on new years day. They said, once you spend on the first day of the year, you like to spend the rest of the year. by Retchel

I grew up believing that if you have some money on your pocket (whatever you’re wearing) come New Year’s eve it will ensure steady flow of income throughout the year. The other belief is that the main door of the house should be wide open come New Year’s eve so that good luck will be ushered in. by Juliana
