Role as a Parent

Yesterday we had a visitor named Ms. Cassandra, she is my son's teacher...She explained to me that as a parent,we play many roles in the life of our child...here are three roles that parents fill which help the child grow and develop...

  • As a designer,we provide interesting play materials and experiences that promote our child's natural curiosity and problem solving.
  • As a consultant,we help our child learn about her/his world and how it works while encouraging her independence and ability to do things for herself.
  • As an authority,we set boundaries for our child's behavior that are appropriate for her/his age and developmental level, and help others know you child's unique characteristics and needs.
The special things that we do to carry out these roles will change as our child grows. It is helpful to stop from time to time and consider how we fill each role as our child's abilities change...Remember,providing for our kids does not necessarily mean large expenditures of time, money or energy...It is often the day to day care and interaction we give our child that means the most for their development...I hope you learn something from me today...Thanks for dropping by!!!!
